To understand this a little better when it comes to Search Engine Optimisation: there’s you (the owner of the website), the search engine (Google or others I mentioned above), and the searcher.

I have mentioned 8 different search engines, now think about this, on any given day, there are more than 3.5 billion searches conducted on Google, 122.8 million searches on Bing, and 340 million searches on Yahoo, not to mention Chinese search engine Baidu that gets 1.54 billion searches!

Ok, it seems we love to search online. But what we also love is to get the best and most relevant results when we search.

Ranking on top of the list

Can you see how important is to show up on the first page of Google? This can be the deciding factor between a business that’s thriving and one that’s failing even if they provide very similar services or products.

It seems there are enormous benefits to ranking on the top of search engines results lists. The higher the better. Studies indicate that 72% of searches resulted in a page 1 Google Organic click. Page two and three only get 6% of clicks. On the first page alone, the first five results account for 68% of all the clicks and the results from 6 to 10 account for only 3.73%.


You shouldn’t be, just think about how you search and what you do when you see the results in front of you. Do you ever go to another page? Studies indicate that searcher will more likely change their search query rather than going to the second page, not to mention third page. They would rather change their search keywords or click on an ad.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how important it is to optimise your website and have it ranking on the first page for organic search results. As I said the higher the better.

Let’s say I want to rank for the phrase ‘SEO Sunshine Coast‘ and ‘Web Design Sunshine Coast‘ so I attract local customers to purchase my SEO as well as Website Design packages. On-site SEO & off-site SEO

When it comes to SEO, there are two broad categories, on-site SEO and off-site SEO. On-page SEO is all the work you do and techniques you use on the page you are trying to optimise, such as images, content, headers, page structure were as off-page SEO is all the variables that search engines like Google consider and these are not always directly dependent on you.

Both these categories are important and both need to be considered if you want to succeed in your SEO efforts. I usually start with in-house cleaning. I figure there is no point bringing in all this traffic only to find that they immediately leave your website which in turn will probably increases your bounce rate.


Possibly the most important SEO factor of all. This will require some effort on your part. Better more in depth quality content increases visitor engagement and Google rankings. Importance of Quality Content. But as usual with SEO, quality content is not all that needs to be considered, think headline research, keyword research and the use of keywords in a natural way. Always focus on the reader and seamlessly integrate your keywords a few times. Make it fresh or refresh already existing articles and blog posts. Write clearly and consider answering questions as you go. The main thing to focus on when writing articles is the ‘search intent’ of the searcher.


This is where my website designing skills come into play. Ask yourself is the SEO Agency you are considering to hire to conduct your monthly SEO Services a specialist in HTML or website building? It is very hard to believe they can actually do a good and thorough job optimising your website if they are not. 3. Website Architecture

This is probably one of the most technical parts of the on-page SEO category and there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
Good website architecture leads to a greater user experience. It focuses on things like fast loading times, a safe connection and the mobile responsiveness of your website design. Consider how easy is it to crawl, if you have keywords in url’s as well the a secure connection to your site (HTTPS and SSL Certificates).

After I am satisfied with my on-page SEO efforts I would move on to my off-site SEO, here are several of things to consider.


Trust is measured by Google with something called PageRank and TrustRank. There are four parts to building trust:

  • Authority – measured by Domain Authority and Page Authority
  • Bounce rate
  • Domain age
  • Identity of your brand or person


There are a couple of factors to consider when asking or looking for ways to link back to your website. The most important is the quality of links, and the links from brand new sites. These are often worth more than repeat links from existing websites but links from older established sites can be worth even more. What kind of anchor text is use when the link is created and its number.


Decide if your content is relevant to only one county or multiple and mark your website accordingly. Adding a City will help if you want to rank in that particular location. Keep in mind your site might come up if the searcher already visited your site previously as Google thinks it is most relevant.
